Gabrielle "Gabs" Martinez is an editor currently based in Los Angeles, CA. They primarily work with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite and are skilled in collaborating with editorial teams through the Adobe Teams workflow and the Adobe Productions workflow. They are also comfortable with the workflow between Premiere Pro, After Effects, Adobe Audition, and DaVinci Resolve.

Gabs started their journey into the film industry by attending Emerson College in Boston, MA, as a Writing for Film and Television major before transferring to the University of Texas at Austin. They were accepted into the Moody School of Communications' Department of Radio, Television, and Film, where they enrolled in UT3D, the nation’s only comprehensive stereoscopic 3D production program. Led by industry professional Buzz Hays, the UT3D classes highlighted the history, business, technology, and production techniques of stereoscopic 3D. In addition, the program explored the many uses of 3D, including in concerts, features, documentaries, and recent 3D innovations, such as "glasses-free" 3D for television, tablets, cellphones, and small display devices.
During their time at UT Austin, Gabs seized the opportunity to take courses in motion capture, immersive media, editing, and post-production processes, learning from industry experts Deepak Chetty, Simon Quiroz, and Don Howard. They gained hands-on experience in all areas and worked with Unreal Engine and Unity to bring projects to life. Outside of class, they gained first-hand experience on set as a data wrangler and learned industry processes as a post-production intern for Revelator Productions.

Since graduation, Gabs has focused on post-production, learning best practices as an Assistant Editor. Over time, they have formed a consistent, detailed process for project management and asset tracking and attained knowledge to quickly find and implement solutions to technical roadblocks. Essential skills they gained as an assistant editor include ingesting, transcoding, syncing multi-camera projects, pulling selects and editing assemblies of scenes, creating references and providing assets for visual and graphic effects artists, cutting in final VFX/GFX, sourcing music and sound effects, as well as exporting AAFs, EDLs, XMLs, and final deliverables for various platforms.

Gabs' experience as an assistant editor has expanded their creative lens and provided them with a toolset that expedites their editorial process. They love editing in a way that allows a scene or video to breathe but is also action-driven when appropriate. The projects highlighted in their portfolio have allowed them to connect and collaborate with artists across the spectrum of production and post-production. They enjoy ideating story development with producers and directors, as well as how to enhance projects with visual effects, graphics, and sound design.

Their command of post-production gives them a unique eye for detail that can be applied across all filmmaking processes. They continue to expand their knowledge in other areas and roles, including story producing, continuity supervising, and color grading, aspiring to direct future projects.

Outside work, Gabs enjoys casually playing open-world video games, reading fantasy novels, and going to museums. They watch a variety of sci-fi, comedies, and dramas (Ms. Marvel, The Mandalorian, Letterkenny, New Girl, What We Do in the Shadows, Grey's Anatomy, Black Sails, The 100, iZombie, Shadow and Bone, etc.), as well as reality television (The Bachelorette, Queer Eye), and anime (Naruto, Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, Fruits Basket, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Yuri on Ice, etc.). The common and dreaded question, ”What's your favorite movie?”, is one they, like many, have struggled to answer in the past but can currently be answered with a Top 5 in this order - 1. Everything Everywhere All At Once | 2. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse | 3. Portrait of a Lady on Fire | 4. Parasite | 5. Arrival.
